Claude Monet was once described as "an eye, but what an eye!" The LPHS Art Department similarly has been described as "an Art Department, but what an Art Department!" We wallowed in the reflected fame of Bene Stewart's folio making it into the Top Folio travelling exhibition. We also relished the Photography NCEA Scholarship gained by Emelia Mixter. Staff Farewells
We are sorry to say goodbye to several staff members as the year ends. First of all, Deputy Principal Roger Tobin, who has been at Logan Park for the last 29 years. Roger will be moving on to PPTA as the Otago Division Field officer. The end of the Services Academy due to funding cuts means we will also lose the director, Simon Heptsonstall, who has been enormously energetic over the past two years leading the Academy students. We are also sad to say goodbye to Soo Graham, Coordinator of Adult Community Education (ACE), Christine Swindells, Internatonal Student Manager, Chris Gill, Maths teacher and Linda Bruce, Teacher Aide.

Sports Day
This year’s Sports Day, unlike last year, managed to last the whole day without raining, a great start! Once again each House was proudly represented with a barrage of colour and noise. With over 130 events to get through it showcased some of our best athletes, striving to break records, win points for their House and generally have fun along the way. Last year, Aoraki won the day and as previous winners sat in prime position by the finish line, but could this year see them moved?

With teams in every category, there were nearly a hundred students playing futsal, more than any other school in Dunedin. Our junior teams were named after Premiership teams in the English league. They played over 70 games and scored over 270 goals!

I’m sure the ancient Romans would be proud of us at Logan Park with our 6th consecutive win at the Otago Junior Classics Quiz. Youth Parliament 2013
In April 2013, I was privileged enough to be appointed as the Youth Member of Parliament representing the Rt. Hon Winston Peters for a six-month tenure. As much of an honour as it was, I will never forget the disgust so evident in Mr Tobin and Mr Enright’s (both staunch Labourites) eyes when they learnt I was representing Winston, and that he had chosen me. It would seem they are the only members of Grey Power who don’t like dear Winston!
