Debating success at Otago Southland Russell McVeagh Debating competition

By Suzanne RobinsTuesday October 22, 2013

Congratulations to Connor Seddon, Helen Prime and Jacobi Kohu-Morris who represented Logan Park High School with considerable vigour and skill at the Otago Southland Russell McVeagh Debating competition on the 17th and 18th of May.

This year there were 28 teams involved and the Logan Park team (all first-timers) can be very proud of reaching the semi-finals of the competition.

Special congratulations go to Connor Seddon, who was chosen as one of three speakers to represent the region in the national level of the competition, and to Jacobi Kohu-Morris, who won the coveted Most Promising Speaker Award (not bad for Year 11!) and will be included in the region's Development Squad.  Logan Park students have won the Most Promising Speaker Award in three of the last four years.

The coaches for both the regional team and the development squad are brothers Alec and Patrick Dawson.  Alec and Patrick are both ex-Logan Park students who represented the school and the region in this competition in their time.
