On the 19th of March 2013, we had our Race Unity Assembly. It was a good opportunity to get to know all of the different cultures, which are represented at Logan Park High School.
Our Head Boy, Blake and Head Girl, Polly and our two International Prefects, Yuna and Marcel opened the assembly in different languages and welcomed every culture.
This year, we had 23 different countries at our school. The biggest groups were Thailand, Germany, Japan and Vietnam.
We Germans decided to sing our hymn and not just to say our names and our country.
Some of the countries wore traditional clothes like Poland, Ethiopia and Japan, which was really interesting.
At the end of each assembly everybody sang a beautiful Maori song with Jacobi.
We think it is a really good idea to celebrate Race Unity Day at Logan Park High School, especially because we have so many cultures and you usually don’t realise it during a normal school day.
