The Homework Club

By Lydie LeurquinTuesday November 19, 2013

The After School Homework Club has been an amazing experience this year. The teachers that are involved in the club are wonderful. They all bring something different. Mr Pirie for Science and Maths, Ms Brinsley for English, Drama and Careers, and Matua Tip for Te Reo Maori.

The great thing about the Homework Club, is that it is so relaxed, the students get to choose what they do. The Homework Club is a great way to meet people and to get help from the teachers if it is needed. The Homework Club was originally for Pasifika and Maori students but is now open for any students looking for that extra bit of support for their homework. From time to time, Ms Brinsley organises for some students at the University of Otago from the Pacific Island Centre, to come along and tutor some students. I think that the Homework Club is a great way to interact with people who you would not normally "hang out" with at school. It has helped me a lot this year and last year for any homework or tests that I had and it has been great for exam revision. All of the teachers are so helpful and laid back. It is such a cool environment to be in to finish a Thursday afternoon.
