Interhouse Cross Country

By Scott BayneTuesday November 19, 2013

This year’s Inter-House Cross Country took place on a sunny Wednesday in July. The competition was won by Aoraki in 2012 and competition was going to be fierce as not only were there points for the annual House trophy up for grabs, but also the prestige of winning the House cup, which is held by whichever House won the last Inter-House competition, in this case Omimi for Sports Day.

In order to try and get more students running, this year had an open invitation to any student to take part in an untimed fun run variation of 2km. With over 110 students taking part in the fun run, it was great to see so many turning dressed in some very strange and colourful outfits with the best being awarded spot prizes for their effort.  In the more competitive timed events, all the races were closely fought. Due to the poor weather prior to the event, we did have to leave out the hill section but there was still plenty of varied running for the students to go over. In the end,  Clayton narrowly beat last year’s winners by only 3 points! Well done to all those runners who took part and made it a great day's competition.
