By Christine ColbertThursday October 24, 2013

The Year 10 Drama students presented their entries for this year’s Shakespeare Cup at a very successful evening for parents on Thursday October the 24th.

The audience were treated to scenes from Romeo and Juliet, a Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Twelfth Night. All the students showed a thorough understanding of Shakespeare’s language and alternatively made us laugh or feel for the character’s plight.
Ms Spicer was asked to adjudicate and found herself with some difficult decisions to make. Awards made were Best Actress Sophie Hilton for her portrayal of Olivia and Will Dwyer was Best Actor for his very fetching Thisbe. Highly Commended acting awards went to Oscar LaDell, Kaycee barnes, Ben Deaker, and Matilda Macandrew .
The award for Best Physicality went to Jesse Dwyer and the Best Relationship between characters, went to Sasha Dow and Tayla Richardson. Best staging went to Pyramus and Thisbe.
Runners up, in a very realistic and dramatic fight scene in Romeo and Juliet, were Jim Robinson, Mica Goldsmith- Lonie, Jasper Holloway, Oscar LaDell and Olly Mammitzsch.
However on the day, comedy was the supreme winner. The tale of Pyramus and Thisbe was delightfully presented by Matilda Macandrew, Ella Yiannett, Oscar LaDell, Will Dwyer, Ola Szukiel – Deans and Tia Hibbert and was the winner of the Junior Shakespeare Cup for 2013.
