Chamber Music Group

By Matthew ScaddenTuesday November 19, 2013

We were pleased to have another strong showing at this year's Regional NZCT Chamber Music Contest.

We entered three exclusively Logan Park groups – Brace Yourself (a Woodwind and Piano trio), Rhythm Shoes (Saxophone Quartet), and Moonshine (a Violin and Piano trio). In addition to this we had students in cross-school groups: Hike Lobster Inc, Just So Natural, SWaMP, Wooden Sticks, Purrfect Harmony and French PENGUIN Harmony. All of the groups performed extremely well, and the students had a great time. Cellist Nel Pardas-Antona was in two cross-school groups both of which were recalled to the finals on Sunday night, where both groups were Highly Commended which is a fantastic result. Cellist Sean Stenhouse and violinist Matthew Scadden also made it the finals for the 5th year. In the group SWaMP they were joined by international student William Kaminger on the clarinet, and Paddy Ou from JMC on the piano. This group was delighted on Sunday night to be presented with 1st place in the Regional Competition. Chamber Music continues to be strong at Logan Park High School, and we look forward to another successful year in 2014. Many thanks to John Dodd for the hours that he puts into helping these groups achieve success.
