Logan Park Philharmonic Orchestra Rides Again!

By Hanna OttTuesday November 19, 2013

It's been a good year for the orchestra. A hard year, but a good year nonetheless.

Even though we were unfortunately unable to go on tour this year, I think I can safely say that we all had fun at some stage during the year. We were thrilled to have the lovely Merlin Callister back to conduct Danzon No. 2, a recent composition by Mexican composer Arturo Marquez. Merlin and I fell in love with this piece over the Christmas holidays last year, and he spent a large part of the spring holidays arranging the piece for our orchestra.
I feel the need to insert a funny anecdote here, but there have been too many small moments that are meaningless out of context, thus I will content myself with a quick clarinet joke: How do you stop an oboe from being stolen?
Put it in a clarinet case.
To finish up, I have, uh, three things to say: firstly, there will be a tour next year, fingers crossed; secondly, thanks for the um, hard work, team, it's been great and we'll all miss Matthew, Blake, Sean and, ah, Zoe, and thirdly...uh...thirdly...I forgot what I was going to say.
